Detox smoothies don’t have to taste gross or include an endless list of ingredients. It’s true!
I’ve been loving this smoothie for the last few months because it’s a great way for me to ensure I’m getting my greens. I’m drinking at least one per week as part of my 20 Personal Things for 2020- and so far so good! I’ve been enjoying it several times a week in the morning for a nice light meal or snack.
Smoothies in the winter aren’t always my favourite. For one thing they’re too cold! Another reason is that most of the smoothie ingredients I enjoy tend to be out of season this time of year. If you’re like me and aren’t a lover of smoothies in the winter, this recipe is for you.
I wanted to keep all of the ingredients in my detox smoothie whole foods that are easy to find in grocery stores. I was also intentional about making sure none of the ingredients were frozen to avoid the cold factor, however if you prefer a little chill to your smoothie, feel free to add ice.
This is a great smoothie for this time of year because it crams in a bunch of nourishing ingredients that are not only good for your immune system but also for your digestion and skin. Although the ingredients are extremely simple, you can add whatever additional items into it that you desire.

This smoothie is designed to be winter friendly! There aren’t any frozen ingredients or anything tropical and out of season.
You can adjust the amount of water you use to get your desired consistency, add ice if you prefer a cold smoothie and adjust the ginger to your desired spicy-ness!
Ideally, use organically grown produce but if that’s not possible, remove the skin from the apple and cucumber before blending.

- 2 cups baby spinach
- 1/2- 1 1/2 inch knob of ginger
